Why is there a Snoopy on the dial?

Nevertheless, the Hydroscaph is still undeniably cool, modern, durable, and again comfortable. So it isn't as though I am waiting for Clerc to actually fix any problems. But you know, when it comes to wild watches we always want more right? There is one issue I do have though. Clerc uses the same Hydroscaph case for the H1 as it does for its chronograph and other models, such as the GMT (hands-on review here). For those other models I get why the case is on the thicker side - given the size of the movement. While it would have cost a lot of R&D money and perhaps have changed the water resistance, would it perhaps have been a good idea to produce a thinner version of the Hydroscaph for this three-hand version? A slimmer three-hand dive watch would be very much appreciated - especially with these cool looks.

Gauss is a unit of magnetic induction. As a unit of measure, it's been formally superseded by the Tesla as a unit. The ampere, or amp, describes the electromagnetic field in this context. Normally, amps are a measurement of electrical current.

In the 2260 SQ (squellete, or "skeleton") form, the movement takes on a totally different character altogether, even though its features and performance are identical to that of the standard 2260. What is different is the amount of attention it receives from specialized hands as it has fully skeletonized and engraved bridges. That means that all potentially excess metal is removed to allow for a view into as much of the movement as possible, but also that the available surfaces are in many faces decorated with engravings.

Hublot's Masterpiece (MP) Watch Collection Watch Releases

"I don't know about watches, but I do know about leather, and stitching, and color matching." I nodded in understanding. "This company is taking a lot of elements here and mixing them up in a really satisfying way. It takes a lot of work to select this color of leather and ensure that it distresses in the right way. I wonder why they chose to go with a contrast stitching, but I bet it matches those on the jeans they envision most people wearing with a watch like this will have." That got my attention.

Back in June we wrote about this watch, and today I'm pleased to present our review of a week with the Junghans Meister Handwinding ref 027/3200.00, courtesy of Junghans USA.

A note on "Ultra Thin" for a moment. This is a relatively new term applied to an existing state. Over the last few years thin watches are becoming more and more trendy. They were also trendy in the 1960s, but that is beside the point. So what brands have done–in addition to releasing a lot of very thin watches–is apply the term "thin" to timepieces that are exactly the same, but happen to be relatively thin compared to thicker timepieces.

Girard-Perregaux, Neo-Tourbillon with Three Bridges Technical specs:

Chrono24, in association with their partner Auctionata (both in Germany), will feature a collection of exclusively tourbillon watches next month via a live online-only auction called "The Fascination of Tourbillon - Exclusive Watches." There will be twenty five lots, including Lot Number 10 which consists of five Glashütte Original Tourbillons that marked their 500 Year Anniversary. The online auction is November 8th, 2013 and has some interesting values. What is interesting is that most of the watches have a estimate ceiling price of just 30,000 Euros (pretty good for a Swiss tourbillon).

Dial: Light-grey and silvery opaline

The Officer’s Day/Date Mechanical is a heck of a watch. At around 0 (or less, if you look around) it’s in a pretty competitive price point, but I’d imagine it blows most of the competition out of the water. This is a well-made, well-finished, classic, dependable watch. Nothing gimmicky. It just works. It may not be the most interesting watch in the world, but it’s incredibly practical and plenty good looking. It’s really grown to be a favorite in my collection. A million thanks to Victorinox and aBlogtoWatch for this beautiful piece. I couldn’t be happier.

We also like that the Rolex Milgauss Z Blue Dial 116400GV isn't an instant crowd pleaser. At first the combination of blue, green, and orange colors feels random, and the lightning bolt seconds hand feels out of place for Rolex. After a while it starts to grow on you as the odd Rolex out - which is often a good thing - and the timepiece's legibility and entertaining colors win you over.

Welcome back to the original aBlogtoWatch feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with Michele Sofisti, who has been in the watch industry since the mid-90s, and has be at the helm of a number of luxury watch brands which as of today includes running Gucci Watches, Girard-Perregaux, and JEANRICHARD. Yes, that is a lot. With his grail watch, I think many will find it refreshing that it was a timepiece that many aspire to, or perhaps even have already acquired - and certainly a common one in the grail watch series. What I think is most unique here is that Mr. Sofisti eventually ended up working as CEO of the brand who made his first grail - nice bit of synchronicity there!

Hublot's Miami Heat Partnership Watch Releases

This isn't the first time Bell & Ross has borrowed the large orange GMT hand of the Explorer II watch. Maybe I have a thing for Bell & Ross GMT watches but I equally liked the Bell & Ross BR 01-93 GMT piece that I reviewed here. The clean, legible looks of the purposeful tool-watch style and that large orange GMT hand look cool. It takes the watch into a real instrumental range making it feel like a navigational item more than a typical sport watch. The Explorer II-style steel bezel is retro-cool and adds to the vintage flair that Bell & Ross is known for playing with successfully.

The Carrera Calibre 36 Racing was originally introduced at Baselword 2013. It was released as part of a collection of Calibre 36 movement-equipped watches and the "Racing" part of the name was an indication of its unique color theme, strap, and titanium case construction. I just noticed something interesting actually. If you click on that above link you'll see that between the design and production phase, TAG Heuer realized that the hands were too short. The piece I am reviewing has the correct size hands, but early pictures of the watch had it with hands that were too short. Yet again I fail to understand why designers continue to produce watches with hands that are too short. Thankfully brands such as TAG Heuer are able to catch this before production, but many are not.

Having had time to bond with this watch over the last weeks, I find my other watches are spending more time in my watch winder than on my wrist. I am very impressed with the look and presence on my wrist whether I have long sleeve or short sleeve shirts on. Maurice Lacroix understands that today's watch enthusiasts enjoy trying different straps, and they included two choices to get you started.

Traser H3 watches are known to most enthusiasts for their use of tritium tube illumination. This connection is a natural fit as Traser is a subsidiary of MB-Microtec, the very company that developed the illumination technology that we see used in their watches. Traser calls their specific version of this technology Trigalight  and it can be seen in use on all of their watches, including the Officer Pro model seen here.
